For four star Italian, try The Pink Door in Seattle. Here's a place to get good food. Located in the Downtown neighborhood, this mildly expensive restaurant is one of the area's popular places. The informal dining room is comfortable and purposefully un-slick. Patrons sit at oilcloth table coverings with plastic water glasses, enjoying Italian standards like melt-in-your-mouth lasagne and grilled...

After their "recent" trip to Italy to pick up "secret" recipes I was looking forward to taking my parents to the Pink Door. We have all traveled extensively in Europe especially in Italy and were looking forward to the experience. Unfortunately we were sorely disappointed. Not only was the service mediocre at best - bordering on condescension but the food was sub par. Buca di Beppo's has better food and that's only one step above Ragu. Two of us ordered their cioppino and from what I could tell we got one order split in half and watered down some of the other orders were less than hot (temperature). Perhaps it was because we were eating late (8:00 ish) or maybe we just hit an off night in the kitchen but when it was combined with our waiter's attitude and lack of attention I was furious. Simple things like seeing how the food was or offering fresh pepper or cheese. . . the basics were omitted from our experience but some how did happened at the tables next to us. It seemed almost intentional. There are so many good restaurants in Seattle, we won't be back.

I have eaten at the Pink door twice now. the first occasion was for my girlfriends birthday; where we were immediately seated and the waiters were very helpful in picking a delicious plate. Desert was also fantastic. There was no performances at that time because it was around lunch but the atmosphere was amazing. My second trip to this fantastic restaurant was a special one because i had asked my girlfriend to prom and the front desk was oh so helpful in assisting me. They kindly listened to my ideas for the "Big Question" and found ways to make it available. The food was awesome as always and the chocolate cake with pomegranate syrup was to die for. The Pink Door located at the Pike Place restaurant is very affordable and one of my top restaurants in Seattle. (I eat at many fine dining restaurants all over Seattle.)
